Social Media: The Double-edged Sword for Self-expression in Kenya

Social media has become both a unifying and a dividing innovation. The world has become a village where people can communicate and interact without having to travel for thousands of miles to experience a culture. However, the same social media has sadly become a platfrom where extremism is encouragesd and celebrated. Hate sppech for example is slowly becoming a norm in the Kenyan social media arena at an alarming rate.The people need to be sensitized on the effects of such habits on the social wellbeing of all of the people living within the Kenyan community- whether local or foreign.
